How it works

Three steps. That's the whole thing.

Cash has three properties nothing digital has managed to keep at once: it is private, it works without a network, and it moves from hand to hand. Qashmore keeps all three, and adds one cash never had — a cheat cannot get away with it.

Get digital cash from your bank.

Your bank issues Qashmore notes against your account. You are a known customer of a licensed institution, identified once, at onboarding — exactly as today. Nothing about that changes.

Pay or transfer.

Tap, scan, or hand it over. The payment verifies on the spot: your phone and the merchant's phone check the note against a small set of public keys. The merchant sees a valid payment. Not you. No network is needed for this step.

It settles in the background.

When devices come back online, the notes are reconciled between the banks over the rails they already use. Nothing new has to be built for a payment system to start clearing.

Where the money goes when the power goes out

On a train. At a festival. In a village with one bar of reception. During a blackout. A payment system that only works when everything else works is not a payment system — it is a convenience. Qashmore keeps paying, without special hardware, on an ordinary phone.

And if someone cheats?

A valid note cannot be forged. The only attack left is trying to spend the same money twice. When the system next comes online, the system names exactly the original cheat — personally, automatically — and every other honest member of the chain keeps their anonymity: neither those who held the note before the cheat nor those after them are exposed, or even made suspect. An issuer guarantee makes the honest recipient whole, so the loss falls on the cheat, not on the person who accepted the payment in good faith.

Everyone honest stays anonymous. Fraud reveals itself.
